Director of Marketing and Development

The Director of Marketing and Development will provide the strategic vision and collaborative leadership necessary to plan and execute a fundraising plan that will bring our annual revenue from $1.5M to $4M by 2015. The goal is raising a new $1Mil in the next three years for our ongoing Phase 2 clinical trials of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy in the treatment of PTSD and then $4M for three years for our Phase 3 MDMA/PTSD studies. The Director of Marketing and Development will lead the overall direction, coordination and implementation of MAPS fundraising campaigns, including development operations, donor relations and annual fund giving, events, online fundraising, planned giving, direct mail, major donors and regional outreach, subject to plans approved by the Deputy Director. The Executive Director will continue to work with the existing donors with whom he has a personal relationship (welcoming input from the Director of Marketing and Development) and will be available to complement the Director of Marketing and Development by meeting around the world with new prospective donors and by participating in events. • At least five years fundraising, sales, or philanthropic experience, preferably but not necessarily for an organization with a medical focus • At least three years non-profit experience preferred • At least three years of leadership, management, or supervisory experience • Demonstrated ability to understand and report on financial aspects of a business or non-profit, and plan strategically to meet organizational needs • Experience building an organizational membership preferred but not required • Track record of excellent team work and comfortable engaging in critical debate with senior management • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Background in medical or health field preferred but not essential • BA Degree or equivalent life experience required; advanced degree or certification preferred • Develop, articulate, advocate for, and implement a fundraising strategy that will meet revenue goals and ensure a strong base of support for the organization. • Build relationships with donors • Create short- and long-term strategic goals for the organizations development activities • Direct marketing efforts for books, art, clothes and other items in MAPS store • Research and identify potential donors, foundations, and grants; identify, maintain, and leverage key relationships within existing contacts • Conceptualize fundraising events • Advise on strategy and implementation of direct mail and internet fundraising campaigns • Understand organization’s fundraising needs and closely monitor fundraising progress; provide quarterly reports on fundraising status from all relevant initiatives Please inquire.
