Over the last several years, a renaissance in psychedelic research has begun to transform the study of human consciousness and its role in mental illness. In randomized clinical trials, psychedelic-assisted therapies have shown promise in the treatment of multiple psychiatric disorders, with both MDMA and psilocybin receiving a “breakthrough therapy” designation from the FDA. This course will provide an overview of contemporary psychedelic research, including naturalistic studies, clinical trials of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, and cutting-edge basic science research. The course will be of interest to clinicians and researchers alike, highlighting the need for collaboration across disciplines as this field continues to grow.
