The light-painted portrait of Dr. Oscar Janiger on the cover of this issue is one in a series of portraits of psychedelic pioneers by artist Dean Chamberlain. Chamberlain first began the series in 1996 when he met Timothy Leary and did his portrait. Besides Leary and Janiger, he has also done portraits of Albert Hofmann, Laura Huxley, John Lilly, Ram Dass, and Richard Evans Schultes.
