You may have read the news this week about a former Australian army soldier who joined Al Qaeda back in 2001. He did so after serving in East Timor for six months where he was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD.)

It’s an illness we are hearing more of, especially in the armed forces.

PTSD among war veterans is the subject of a play starring David Woods called Give Me Your Love.

It’s also the subject of a controversial medical experiment in the US where doctors are giving soldiers MDMA, better known as ecstasy, to treat the illness. A former Australian army war vet is lobbying for ecstasy trials in Australia.
