MDMA Therapy Training Program Update: August 2021

The summer 2021 cohort for the MDMA Therapy Training Program finishes their 14-week online course in August. The cohort consisted of 309 trainees. Trainees joined from across the globe, including those from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South America, and Europe. Trainees in the summer cohort were based in 30 different states in the U.S. A total of 80 Health Equity Scholarships were allocated to eligible trainees, totaling $317,500. More than one-third of the cohort were practitioners of color.

The fall cohort will run from August 29 to December 18. The training team has been conducting admissions throughout July and August and expects to enroll a greater number of trainees and award a greater number of scholarships for the fall cohort than the summer cohort.

MDMA Therapy Supervision Update

The Supervision Team is running a 20-hour Associate Supervisor Training program with the goal of having 17 additional Associate Supervisors trained by October 2021. The next Supervisor Training Cohort is planned for early 2022. These Supervisors will help oversee the final supervision requirements for the MDMA Therapy Training Program, in addition to providing consultation support for MAPS-sponsored trials and Investigator Initiated Trials examining MDMA-assisted therapy around the world. The Supervision Team has also begun the exciting work of strategizing and planning for Clinical Supervision programs that could be accessible and effective in a post-approval world. The Supervision Team is planning to have 300 trained Supervisors ready to support practitioners and programs using MDMA-assisted therapy.
