U.S. Veterans Study: Subject Drops Out Following Single Successful Treatment

On May 13, 2012, the third subject completed their long-term follow-up evaluations in our ongoing study in U.S. veterans, firefighters, or police officers with chronic, treatment-resistant PTSD. This subject was a veteran suffering from chronic, treatment-resistant PTSD as a result of military service, who after one MDMA-assisted psychotherapy session felt so improved that he needed no further treatments with MDMA or any other drug. He agreed, however, to return for the 12-month follow-up interview to evaluate his PTSD symptoms. According to lead clinical investigator Michael Mithoefer, M.D., this subject experienced sustained benefits with scores on the CAPS at the 12-month follow-up below the cutoff for participation in the study.
