July 27 – 29, 2018
From the event website:
Amongst the over 485 species of Bufo toad worldwide, it is only the Bufo alvarius (the Sonoran Desert Toad of Northern Mexico and the Southwestern United States) that is known to excrete the rare entheogen, 5-methoxy-DMT – a compound renowned for being capable of inducing powerful mystical (transpersonal) experiences.
While potentially an ancient and long-lost Meso-American sacrament, the use of Bufo alvarius toad venom has been a modern psychedelic discovery, and for the past four decades, little more than an underground curiosity. More recently however, knowledge of both its existence and its remarkable properties has become increasingly wide-spread, and interest in its use is at an all-time high.
Therefore we believe the time has come to draw together the indigenous peoples, the practitioners, the scientists, the anthropologists, and the psychonauts – the now-global toad family whose lives have been touched by this most powerful of entheogens – to meet and converse openly about this topic so dear to all our hearts.
We are greater than the sum of our parts, and we believe that this, the first World Bufo Alvarius Congress is an opportunity to witness both our commonality and our diversity, to address the pressing issues of toad conservation, ethics, best practices, and sustainable alternatives, and to explore the limits of both our science and our spirituality. What’s more, it is also a much needed gathering to discuss the power and responsibility of using this unique compound, and to find ways in which we can grow as an educated and unified community.
Join us for three days of lectures, panel and group discussions, and films by the leading experts in this nascent field. The WBAC is committed to presenting a balanced mix of both local and global speakers who will be sharing their wisdom and history of working with this unique entheogen, along with encouraging community engagement and personal growth. Come join us in Mexico City in July for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience this unique inaugural event!
