In September, the Training Team delivered two trainings for clinicians and behavioral health practitioners in MDMA-assisted therapy. One training was delivered September 12-18 at Stony Point Center in New York. The training was led by Michael Mithoefer and Annie Mithoefer, with support from Assistant Trainers Anne Wagner, Kelley O’Donnell, Yevgeniy Gelfand, Wende Reynolds, Paulo Rebello, and Cristie Strongman. The second training took place September 25 – October 1 at Drala Mountain Center in Colorado. The Colorado training was led by Marcela Ot’alora G. and Bruce Poulter, along with Assistant Trainers Chantelle Thomas, Chris Nicholas, Joseph McCowan, Andrea Rosati, and Paul Uy.
The Training Team completes their final two trainings for 2022 in October. All of the 2022 training cohorts are now full. The MDMA Therapy Training Program is not accepting applications at this time. Consultation Program Update
We are excited to announce that a new cohort of experienced MDMA-assisted therapy practitioners began training in September to become MAPS Consultants. MAPS-trained Consultants, also known as Supervisors, provide consultation and support to new practitioners working on MAPS-sponsored and supported research trials. This cohort of Consultant Trainees will complete the Training Program by November and will be ready to support newly trained MDMA-assisted therapy practitioners.
Adherence & Supervision Program Update
The Adherence & Supervision Team has just completed a new training cohort of Adherence Raters at the end of September. These trainees have been working diligently over the last four months to learn how to review and rate therapy videos according to the Manual for Adherence Ratings of MDMA-Assisted Therapy for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Adherence Raters are mental health professionals who review session video in MAPS-sponsored trials of MDMA-assisted therapy. Their role is to assess the delivery of therapy to ensure its adherence to our MDMA-Assisted Therapy Treatment Manual. A select number of our trainees will be invited to join our active pool of over 70 international Adherence Raters who work carefully to perform this essential function in our research.
