Following the issuance of an import permit by Health Canada in June 2026, Research Triangle Institute, the contracted licensed distributor for the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Drug Supply Program, successfully exported and shipped a quantity of placebo cannabis to Aqualitas Inc. (now operating as Wellford Canada, a subsidiary of Wellford Holdings Ltd.), the Canadian licensed cultivator and producer under the Cannabis Act responsible for cultivating 19,926 grams of high-THC cannabis flower for Phase 2 Study of Cannabis for Veterans with PTSD (known as MJP2). Both the imported placebo and high-THC flower cannabis material will be processed into 0.5-gram pre-rolled cigarettes for export back to the U.S. and subsequent controlled distribution to eligible U.S. Veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) who are participating in the MJP2 study and for clinical trials evaluating the safety and effectiveness of inhaled high-THC cannabis flower to manage PTSD symptoms and pain in veterans.
