Community Allies
MAPS knows that collective action is needed to achieve the vision of a post-prohibition future. This work is a movement that transcends individual people or organizations. By uplifting others, we can Be the Bridge to Prioritize Public Benefit and work towards our shared goal together.
To foster collaboration, we fuel other organizations through fiscal sponsorship, grantmaking, and affiliation. Read on to learn more.
How We Collaborate
A fiscal sponsorship is a collaboration between MAPS and operators of independent charitable projects aligned with MAPS’ mission. This model can be thought of as a partnership for progress, catalyzing innovative community initiatives and extending MAPS’ overall impact.
Over the last decade, MAPS has fiscally sponsored over 70 projects across 30 locations; more than $8 million has been granted through the program to expand the psychedelic ecosystem through education, research, advocacy, and community-building initiatives. Examples of projects include the Alma Institute, Chacruna Institute, Enthea, ICEERS, and many more who are making an impact across the globe.

Grants are a driving force in the psychedelic ecosystem, fostering significant impact across research, policy and advocacy, and education. MAPS is proud to support researchers and leaders worldwide who are championing new innovations and research. In addition to MAPS’ in-house programming and research, MAPS has provided millions of dollars in grants to fulfill our multidisciplinary mission and expand our impact.
MAPS is proud to contribute to the growth in the overall body of psychedelic research and a flourishing psychedelic ecosystem. Recent grants from MAPS have been awarded to Veterans Exploring Treatment Solutions, Remedy Institute, Zendo Project, researchers at Emory University, and more.
We plan to expand its grantmaking program in 2025, and in the coming year, we will release more details about how and when to apply for funding.
MAPS’ Global Affiliates are organizations with independent governance and strategy, but with aligned missions focused on a shared commitment to psychedelic research, education, and policy reform. These affiliates are founded by groups of highly motivated local experts who have coalesced to promote education on psychedelics, support initiating research, and collaborate with networks of drug policy reformers.
MAPS does not define governance, strategy, or mission for MAPS Global Affiliates but does, at times, offer operational support and strategic advice.

MAPS has a history of incubating successful projects that later evolve into independently run organizations positively impacting the psychedelic ecosystem.
In 2014, MAPS incubated Lykos Therapeutics (formerly known as MAPS Public Benefit Corporation), a drug-development public benefit company shepherding research for MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD.
MAPS also incubated the Zendo Project, a nonprofit organization leading psychedelic harm reduction.
