Catharsis on the Mall: A Vigil for Healing (Washington, D.C.)

MAPS is a sponsor and co-organizer of the second annual Catharsis on the Mall. The Zendo Project will be present on burn night for those feeling overwhelmed and in need of a safe space.

Four days after the election, a memorial to those whose lives have been affected by trauma will be burned on the grounds of the Washington Monument. The 48-hour national vigil, titled Catharsis on the Mall: A Vigil for Healing, opens on Veteran’s Day beginning at 11:11am, Friday, November 11, 2016. The event is free and open to all. Catharsis features guest speakers, workshops, narrative-braiding, education, art, music, dance, and direct participation.

Find a like-minded community of participants who care about healing for ourselves, each other and our society; large scale art including the Temple of Rebirth and Abraxas, the Dragon of Self Determination; workshops, speakers, music and activities during the day and evening; a variety of small scale local art provided by YOU; healing and gathering spaces; music and cathartic dancing on Saturday night until sunrise.
