Support MAPS with a Planned Gift

Thank you for considering how you can support MAPS and achieve your philanthropic, tax, and estate planning goals through thoughtful gift planning. A gift to MAPS through your estate plans qualifies you as a member of the Ashawna Hailey Legacy Circle, created to recognize and thank donors whose foresight is building the future of MAPS. 

A Gift in Your Estate Plan

You can create a bequest in your estate plans by designating a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your assets to support the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies. This gift may offer future tax savings, will not affect your current cash flow, and is generally revocable. You can:
  • Give a specific dollar amount or percentage of your estate through a will or revocable/living trust
    • Sample wording: “I give the sum of _____ dollars ($_____ ) OR _____ percent (_____ %) to the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, of San Jose, California, for its general purposes.”
    • We’ve partnered with FreeWill, a free online resource that guides you through creating a legally valid will in 20 minutes or less. FreeWill is not meant to replace a lawyer. While this resource will provide you with a legal will completely free of cost, you can also take the documents you create with FreeWill to your attorney and save time and money.
  • Designate the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, such as an IRA, 401(k), 403(b), or other retirement plan. 
  • Name the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy or assign the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies irrevocably as the owner and beneficiary of your policy.
  • Recommend the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies as a successor beneficiary of a Donor Advised Fund.
  You may need our legal name, Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, and our tax identification number (59-2751953) to incorporate such gifts into your plans.

Ashawna Hailey was a software pioneer and MAPS board member who cared deeply about making a better world for all. When she passed away in 2011, Ashawna left $10 million in bequests to drug policy reform organizations, including $5.5 million to MAPS. The Ashawna Hailey Legacy Circle honors Ashawna’s memory and recognizes dedicated supporters who have included MAPS in their estate or gift plans.
