Rick Doblin – MDMA Therapy

London Real host Brian Rose interviews MAPS Founder Rick Doblin about the “psychedelic renaissance” and inspiring international research into the therapeutic uses of psychedelics and marijuana. Doblin updates us on recent breakthroughs in medical marijuana and MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD research, announces MAPS’ upcoming crowdfunding campaign for psychedelic research, and discusses potential upcoming research for veterans. Doblin enthusiastically notes that psychedelic research is showing no signs of slowing down, stating, “There is more research now than any time since the late 1960’s.”

Rick Doblin founded MAPS (the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies) in 1986 with the goal of making MDMA an FDA approved medicine and hasn’t looked back since.  Today the organisation is involved in studying the uses of LSD, Ayahuasca, Ibogaine and Marijuana in such treatments as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, and end of life issues.

Armed with a Ph.D from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government Rick can talk your ear off about policy but he’ll just as easily tell you about his 17 hour trip on LSD in a floatation tank that changed his life.  And that’s what I love about Rick, he walks the walk AND talks the talk.

There are some amazing global figures who are outspoken about the positive use of psychedelics but as an organisation MAPS is unrivalled in putting in the hard work to enact real policy change both in the USA and Europe.  Please join me in supporting them in any way we possibly can.
