MAPS Podcast: Episode 61 – Natural Born Alchemist

Summary: Natural Born Alchemist interviews Merete Christiansen of MAPS about the current state of psychedelic and marijuana research, MAPS’ upcoming Phase 3 trials of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and MAPS’ upcoming 30th Anniversary event at the Oakland Scottish Rite on April 17, 2016. "We have been working with people who have chronic treatment-resistant PTSD, everyone from veterans to survivors of sexual assault to trauma from any other cause.,” explains Christiansen, "We have seen incredible results so far, in our first study 83 percent of the people who went through the study no longer qualified for posttraumatic stress disorder and the people—to put this into perspective—the people who are participating in these studies have what is called chronic, treatment-resistant posttraumatic stress disorder. So that means that they have tried other types of treatments and those treatments have not worked for these people."
