Organization Description
Mission statement: MAPS’ mission is to sponsor scientific research designed to develop psychedelics and marijuana into FDA-approved prescription medicines, and to educate the public honestly about the risks and benefits of these drugs.

The Sarasota office provides support for various research, educational and outreach projects, fundraisers and other events, publishes the MAPS Bulletin and books, responds to correspondence, manages membership and sales, and manages business operations. The Sarasota office employs three full-time staff (two membership services and communications/development, and one financial management) and several part-time temporary student workers.

Job Description– Membership Services and Communications/Development
MAPS is a challenging but very flexible and personal work environment. The Sarasota MAPS office is in a peaceful home setting, allowing staff to work flexible hours and enjoy a casual atmosphere. The job, however, requires strong motivation, a willingness to work both alone and with others, and an ability to handle the changing tasks and priorities that arise at a fast-paced non-profit.

Responsibilities will vary and will be chosen according to your aptitudes and interests. You will split responsibilities with the other full-time Membership Services and Communications/Development staff member. Here are some of the tasks that will be divided or shared depending on your aptitudes and interests:

-Write, edit and coordinate production of communications including MAPS website, Bulletin, and email updates
-Manage marketing and promotional materials including a direct mail campaign
-Identify and promote accomplishments through press releases, press events, articles in professional publications
-Identify, research and develop new opportunities for funding. Plan and carry out fundraising events and recruitment of new members through direct mail, events and other approaches

-Manage member services, handle member and public inquiries
-Oversee membership renewal process: contacting members when it is time to renew, processing check and credit card orders, mailing books, updating membership records in database
-Manage student workers to help with membership process and book sales
-Coordinate volunteers of all sorts around the world
-Build relationships with MAPS community, get to know members on a personal level

-Organize educational events, MAPS community gatherings, and special projects
-Travel to various conferences and events to represent MAPS, giving presentations, networking, and soliciting new members

Qualifications
Required: Strong interpersonal, writing, research, editing and computer skills, self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized, efficient, able to prioritize a heavy work load in an environment with little supervision, and have a strong commitment to the purpose and goals of MAPS. Ability to plan and manage events, project management. Willing to relocate to Sarasota, preferably to live at the MAPS house. Willing to work full-time or at least 32 hours per week. Not allergic to dogs.

Desired: Layout/Design Skills, Proofreading, Fundraising, Office equipment/computer troubleshooting, Public speaking, Basic HTML

Salary and Benefits
Benefits include full health and dental insurance. Pay dependent on skills and experience; starting salary ranging 25-30k/yr. Paid holidays and vacation days. No drug testing.
