Kyra is a philanthropy leader with more than 20 years of experience supporting mission-driven organizations and causes through transformational giving and advocacy. She brings a background in public interest law (including consumer protection, aboriginal land rights, juvenile criminal sentence reform, political asylum and estate planning), as well as strategic marketing, major gifts fundraising, and cross-functional collaboration to advance equity, evidence, healing, and meaningful social progress.
Before joining MAPS, Kyra held senior major gift roles at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, where she worked closely with research and program teams to help donors connect deeply with the impact of scientific discovery, vital quality-of-life services, and legislative protections to effect long-term change.
Kyra is honored to join the MAPS team in building bridges to advance rigorous science, trusted education, practitioner training, and thoughtful policy to help shape a more compassionate and effective mental-health landscape, while recognizing the Indigenous and community-based traditions that shaped this field. She has witnessed the healing power of psychedelic medicine to overcome trauma, pain, addiction, isolation and depression, as well as the tremendous pain and loss that addiction can cause to individuals and families. She is stepping into this work because safe and scientifically-backed solutions are available. Today.
She is a lifelong resident of the San Francisco Bay Area and greatly enjoys hiking, boating, drumming, traveling, singing, costuming (hello Burning Man!), and recreating with her beloved community – especially with her husband and their 85-pound dog.
