Merete (she/her) (pronounced meh-ray-tah) is passionate about contributing to a more joyful and healed society through creativity, sustainability, education, and collective liberation.
As Associate Director of Philanthropy, she brings together her commitment to compassionate care, policy reform, and movement-building to catalyze global support for healing through psychedelic-assisted therapies. Merete previously spent nine years at MAPS, serving on the Philanthropy team and as Executive Manager to Rick Doblin, Ph.D. After a brief hiatus, she rejoined MAPS to continue advancing innovative mental health treatments.
Beyond her work with MAPS, Merete provides strategic vision, coaching, and advising for the Zendo Project. She has also worked with the Burning Man Project Philanthropic Engagement team, partnering with donors to drive impact across art, civic engagement, education, and culture. An avid harm reduction advocate, she volunteers with the Zendo Project and RGX Sanctuary, providing peer support services at large-scale events.
